TURNER ENTERTAINMENT CHOOSES EVEREST 3D REALTIME GRAPHICS SYSTEM FOR FALL SPORTS COVERAGE
(Munich, 4 November 1998) - Turner Entertainment in Atlanta, GA has purchased Everest 3D Realtime Graphics system together with Sherpa on-air production control to create a new generation of graphics for their sports coverage.
"We want to bring a new exciting look to our graphics coverage of sports, including the next NBA season," William Chapman, Vice President, Effects/Advanced Imaging at Turner Entertainment explained. "We chose Everest and Sherpa because the combination of great design tools and on-air operation fits into our production process and gives us the ability to develop further programming applications. We look to greatly expand the capabilities and integration of Everest into the broadcast environment."
"We can achieve a level of production value in a live broadcast that gives us an immediacy at a much higher caliber."
EVEREST is resolution-independent and can be used for NTSC, PAL, 16:9 and HDTV productions. Sherpa is a PC based control system used to retrieve and assemble data into on-air templates and control the on-air playout of Everest. Everest runs on Silicon Graphics Onyx computer systems.
