FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - SMPTE BOOTH #601
GRAPHICS SELLS AND INSTALLS FIRST CLARITY HD GRAPHICS GENERATORS
Complete Post and HD Vision Commit to New Character Generator, Still Store and Paint System
(Boca Raton, FL, November 15, 1999) Collage Graphics has sold and installed its first Clarity HD Graphics systems to two pioneers in the production community, Complete Post in Los Angeles, CA and HD Vision in Dallas, TX. In September, HD Vision placed the first order for Clarity HD. Complete Post ordered their unit in October. Both systems are now installed and are being using for HD post-production.
HD Vision and the Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) have an agreement to construct and operate a 53-foot, state-of-the-art, HD production mobile unit. The vehicle will be used to promote the production and broadcast of High Definition television programming for WRAL-HD and a consortium of over 100 other television stations.
Clarity HD, Collage Graphics' award-winning HD graphics generator, will take its place in the truck along with HDTV cameras, VTRs, a digital switcher with two-channel DVE, matrix intercom and a digital audio mixer with support for both 2-channel and 5.1 channel AC-3 encoding. The completed truck is scheduled to debut the weekend of December 4-5, 1999 during a sporting event in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Charles Pantuso, founding partner and Director of Engineering of HD Vision, says that "Clarity HD was selected above competing products because it offers massive processing power and includes capture for key and fill video, both of which are very important to our current projects."
At Complete Post, Clarity HD beat out a variety of other systems in extensive side-by-side testing. According to Chris Moore, Complete Post Operator, "It's fast and user-friendly, and the more I use it, the more I like it. Positioning elements is really effortless - it's almost like using a word processor program."
As soon as the installation was finished, Complete Post began using the Clarity HD system for post-production on the CBS Television sitcom "King of Queens," which uses the 1080i HD format.
"HDTV is now a reality for U.S. broadcasters," states Collage Graphics President David Brack, "but the debate about standards is still going on. Clarity HD takes a flexible approach, supporting formats from 720-60p to 1080-24p and everything in between. Plus, it's expandable enough to grow as standards, networking and graphics technologies evolve."
